Cuisinart has announced a recall of more than 10,000 gas grills after reports of fire hazards. Consumers are advised to stop using the affected models and contact the company for replacements or refunds. The recall highlights ongoing safety concerns with outdoor cooking equipment.
Cuisinart has announced a recall of more than 10,000 gas grills due to fire and burn hazards, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The recall affects specific models sold nationwide between 2020 and 2023. Consumers are urged to stop using these units immediately and contact Cuisinart for a refund or replacement. This recall underscores ongoing safety concerns related to outdoor cooking appliances.
The recall involves approximately 10,300 Cuisinart gas grills, with model numbers starting with ‘CGG-180’ and ‘CGG-190,’ sold through major retailers and online stores. The CPSC reports that the gas burners can ignite unexpectedly, posing a risk of fire and severe burns. No injuries have been reported to date, but the potential danger has prompted the recall.
Cuisinart issued a statement confirming the recall and advising consumers to contact their customer service for instructions on how to receive a free repair kit or a full refund. The company also emphasized that safety is its top priority and is cooperating fully with regulators.
Potential Fire and Burn Risks from Affected Models
This recall is significant because it highlights ongoing safety issues with gas-powered outdoor grills. Fire hazards from defective burners can lead to property damage, injuries, and even fatalities if not addressed promptly. The recall also raises awareness about the importance of regular safety checks for outdoor appliances, especially as outdoor cooking remains popular among consumers.

History of Outdoor Grill Safety Recalls and Consumer Concerns
In recent years, several brands have faced recalls over similar hazards associated with gas grills and outdoor cooking equipment. Experts note that manufacturing defects, such as faulty burners or gas leaks, are common causes of safety issues. The CPSC has increased surveillance of outdoor appliances following a rise in reported incidents, emphasizing the need for consumer vigilance.
Prior to this recall, Cuisinart had not faced major safety issues with its outdoor grills, but the current incident underscores the importance of product safety monitoring and timely recalls to prevent injuries.
“Consumers should immediately cease using the affected grills and contact Cuisinart for a safe resolution. Safety is our highest priority.”
— CPSC Chair Alex Hamilton
